Mediation is a voluntary and confidential process in which an impartial third party, the mediator, facilitates communication and negotiation between disputing parties to help them reach a mutually acceptable agreement. As an alternative to litigation, mediation offers a more flexible, less adversarial approach to resolving disputes. However, for mediation to be effective, all participants must adhere to specific ground rules that ensure the process is fair, respectful and productive.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is the cornerstone of the mediation process. It ensure that discussions during mediation cannot be used against any party in subsequent legal proceedings.
Rule - all parties agree that anything discussed during mediation remains confidential, unless there is an explicit agreement to share certain information outside the process

2. Voluntary Participation

6. Commitment to the Process

7. Role of the Mediator
The mediators role is to facilitate discussion and help parties reach an agreement, not to impose a solution.

8. Agreement to Abide by Ground Rules
For mediation to be effective, all parties must agree to abide by the ground rules established at the outset
